Foundations of Pottery – Beginner Wheel Course
Wednesdays 6pm - 8pm | 29 July – 16 September 2026

Join us for an 8-week beginner-friendly pottery course designed for those with little to no experience. Across the term, you’ll explore wheel throwing in a supportive and creative studio environment.

You’ll learn the foundations of wheel work, including centering clay, forming a range of shapes, trimming, glazing, and finishing your pieces. These guided projects that leave plenty of room for creativity and personal style.

Over the first sessions, you’ll work with high-quality clay to create a variety of functional and decorative pieces, before spending dedicated glazing sessions adding colour and finishing touches to your work. All firing is included.

The course is led our passionate tutor, Erika Reid, who is committed to creating a welcoming space where you feel supported, encouraged, and confident exploring pottery at your own pace.

A small amount of clay is provided to get you started, with additional clay available for purchase through the club.

Terms and conditions:

Fees must be paid on booking for place in class to be confirmed.

Your firing fees will cover up to 8 pieces of work. If you have more than this that you want to finish off, additional charges will apply.

Your class fee covers 8 weeks of tuition from the advertised dates, if you cant attend a class there is no option to do a different class as a make-up. All classes are booked up and there are no spare wheels. You may do a casual class as a make-up class, note there is no tuition on these nights but you are able to practise what you have learnt so far.

Taradale Pottery Club reserves the right to postpone classes should unforeseen circumstances arise such as tutor illness, special events at the club premises. We will do our utmost to provide an uninterrupted block of 8 weeks of classes but sometimes events or circumstances beyond our control will prevent this from happening. Your tutor will communicate with you should this be the case - there will be 8 classes in total.
